Why Josephinum

Josephinum Academy will get you noticed for who you are and help bring out what you have to offer.

If you:

Josephinum Academy is for you, and you are not alone. Promising young women choose to attend Josephinum for many reasons, but most of all for our outstanding academic program which helps young women reach their potential for success now, at college and beyond.

College-Preparatory Program

Over the past four years, 100% of Josephinum graduates were accepted at a four-year college. Josephinum’s academic program is challenging, personal and supportive. Students love our teachers because they teach and listen.

Josephinum’s curriculum is relevant to the challenges we face today. As an all-girls school and multicultural community in an urban environment, we have a passion for justice and strive to eliminate the forces of racism, sexism and elitism. When you attend Josephinum, you are joining a worldwide community that is rooted in the rich tradition of Sacred Heart education. Each summer there are network service opportunities where students travel to different locations. We even offer an exchange program where you learn about the world by spending a semester at another Sacred Heart school.

All-Girls Environment

At Josephinum, girls come first. Girls in a single-sex educational environment consistently demonstrate higher levels of academic performance, test scores, career aspirations, greater self-respect and confidence, and better focus in the classroom. They have greater opportunities for leadership roles and are well-equipped to overcome gender stereotypes and barriers to success.

All-girls does not equal no fun. In fact, most of our students say that Josephinum is more enjoyable than the co-ed schools they used to attend because at Josephinum, girls are free to be themselves. Students enjoy a vibrant student life through participation in clubs, activities and varsity sports. School dances and activity nights offer many opportunities to hang out with boys, and of course we have a senior prom.

The best way to find out if Josephinum is right for you is to see it yourself. For more information, or to schedule a visit, contact our Admissions Office at 773.276.1261 ext. 234 or melissa.michaels@josephinum.org.
