Freshman Academy

Freshman Academy is a course unique to Josephinum designed to help freshman transition into high school. Ninth grade can be challenging as students struggle to take on a course load greater than what they were accustomed to in grade school. A strong performance during freshman year can make all the difference to set students on a path to success for the rest of their high school career.

Academy is a structured time when students have the opportunity to begin their homework, gain access to technology, and seek assistance from teachers and peers. Each Academy moderator is there to offer tutoring and mentoring. Moderators also teach students the skills that are crucial to succeeding in high school, including studying, organization, and time management.
