Welcome to Josephinum’s Library. We provide a wealth of information and resources to support the middle and high school curriculum and to meet the literary and research needs of students and faculty.
Books, Magazines & Audiovisual Collection: The print collection is well represented by a variety of authors and subjects suited to the high school and middle school student. Materials are chosen on the basis of the curriculum, professional reviewing journals, and the suggestions of faculty, staff, and students. We also have a variety of videos, DVDs, and compact discs for use in the library.
Electronic Database: We use OCLC First Search with online access to more than 70 databases that index magazines, newspapers, and other periodicals. These databases allow students and faculty to obtain citations and often full-text articles to meet their research needs. OCLC First Search also contains information on all materials catalogued by OCLC in the United States and where to find them. OCLC First Search can be accessed anywhere.
Reference Help: Staff are available for a variety of reference needs, including assistance with database and Internet searches, research, and strategies for effectively using the Library’s resources.
Loan Policies: Students may check out books for two weeks. Books can be renewed for an additional two weeks. Prompt return of materials is requested in consideration of others. Fines are $0.10 a day per item. Books that are lost have a replacement charge. Reference materials, videos, compact discs, and magazines are for in-house use only.
Computer Use: There are 18 computer stations with Internet access and word processing programs, which are available to students during library hours. Between 8:15 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. computer stations are for school-related projects only.
