Tuition Assistance

Josephinum relies on the generosity of individuals and corporate funding to help us achieve our mission of providing our world-class education and support at an affordable cost for all students and their families. Through our tuition assistance program, we are honored to join nearly 100% of our families in their financial investment toward their student’s future. All incoming students are encouraged to apply for tuition assistance through scholarships and/or financial aid. Every family is required to complete a FACTS profile for each student attending Josephinum to confirm their demographic information and to verify their family income status on an annual basis.

Tuition assistance programs

The Future Leader Scholarship Program (FLSP) is an internal monetary award that is distributed by Josephinum Academy to eligible students. FLSP awards are granted to incoming ninth grade students who display high academic achievement and positive school participation. All FLSP awards are eligible for renewal each year for students who maintain the scholarship requirements. This program is available to students who meet the requirements stated in the FLSP Eligibility Guidelines. All FLSP awards are available on a first-come first-served basis. Priority consideration is given to students who test with Josephinum on the annual Catholic Schools Entrance Exam Day. This program is not available to transfer students.

**Beginning in the 2020-2021 school year FLSP award amounts will be calculated as a separate entity from all other external scholarship award amounts. FLSP award amounts will be granted up to the percentage of the award received if there is a remaining tuition balance after all external scholarship amounts are applied.

(Ex: If a student receives a 80% FLSP scholarship (valued at $7,650) and a external scholarship of $2,500 for the 2020-2021 school year, then the distributed FLSP award amount would be $7,050 to cover the remaining balance after the external scholarship of $2,500 is applied. (see example A below). If a student remains in good FLSP standing and losses an external scholarship from one year to the next (i.e: Tax Credit Program or non-renewable external scholarships) then the FLSP amount will increase up to the percentage of the FLSP award initially received (see example B below)**

Example A:

$9,550 - 2020-2021 Tuition

- $2,500 - External Scholarship

- $7,050 - 80% FLSP Award (Initial Value: $7,650)

$0 - Tuition Balance

Example B:

$9,550 - 2020-2021 Tuition

- $0 - External Scholarship

- $7,650 - 80% FLSP Award (Initial Value: $7,650)

$1,900 - Tuition Balance

Financial Aid is awarded to ensure that all girls have the right to a world-class, transformative, college-preparatory education. Information submitted by the family through FACTS is used to determine each family's financial aid eligibility on an annual basis. Students may receive both scholarship(s) and financial aid awards to reduce the cost of their total annual tuition.

Our financial aid form is available through FACTS. Click here to register.

Josephinum is proud to partner with scholarship organizations throughout the state to provide additional academic, social-emotional, and/or monetary support to our students and their families. External scholarships are awarded by organizations based on certain performance and/or family need-based requirements.

Please see below for a list of external scholarship partners that work closely with Josephinum. If you are interested in learning more about a particular scholarship please contact the scholarship organization directly or contact Josephinum’s Scholarship and Student Life Coordinator, Chris Haslam at chris.haslam@josephinum.org for assistance.

External Scholarship Partners

Illinois enacted the Invest In Kids Scholarship Tax Credit Program in 2017. The Tax Credit Scholarship will cover up to 100% of private school tuition. To be considered for a scholarship, K-12 students must come from a household that meets the eligibility requirements of the program. View a list of Tax Credit partner Scholarship Granting Organizations (listed below) to see if your family qualifies for the program.

Accepting a Tax Credit award requires the student to forfeit financial assistance from any other external scholarship(s) that she was awarded for the school year. However, this will not impact a student’s FLSP scholarship for future years, if the student maintains her FLSP requirements. This may or may not impact the student's external scholarship(s) in the following years. For questions or concerns, contact our Scholarship and Student Life Coordinator, Chris Haslam at chris.haslam@josephinum.org.

Referral Discount

Students who refer Josephinum Academy to a relative or friend who enrolls will receive a 5% tuition discount. All referrals received before the start of the school year’s payment plan schedule (August 16, 2020) will be reflected in the student’s 2020-2021 tuition balance. Referrals received after the start of the school year’s payment plan schedule will be reflected in the student’s tuition balance for the following year. The referral discount will apply to the student's remaining tuition balance after all scholarships and financial aid awards are applied. (Up to $477.50 off for the 2020-2021 school year). Referral discounts will apply for one year and are not renewable. A Josephinum student who refers more than one student that enrolls may stack the referral discount to receive a further tuition reduction. If a current Josephinum family has more than one student at the Jo, the family may decide which student’s tuition to apply the referral discount.

Paid-in-Full Discount

A 5% discount will be applied to a student’s tuition balance if the family is able to pay the balance in full by the first payment due date (August 16, 2020). Families who wish to pay in full must indicate this payment plan on their student’s enrollment agreement or directly contact our Business Office Manager, Lillian Torres at lillian.torres@josephium.org prior to the first payment due date.
