Josephinum to Host Teen "Intro to Web Development" Summer Course

Josephinum Academy will host a summer course for teens on web coding and development from July 8th through July 25th, Monday through Thursday mornings from 9:30 am to noon. As an introduction to computer science, this 3-week course teaches the foundational concepts of web development, suitable for learners in grades 6-12. Class fee is $50 per child and payable on the first day of class.

Computer coding, including web development, can improve academic performance in writing, math, creativity, and problem solving. It can build soft skills like confidence, organization, and communication. By the end of the course, each student will apply the skills they learn by creating their own functioning website!

Instructor Emilio Alvarez has extensive experience in Computer Science. Knowledgeable in coding and programming languages including Python, JavaScript, and C++ programming, Mr. Alvarez recently co-developed a mobile phone lunch order application for high schools students. In addition, he has extensive experience as a tutor through Inspired Youth.

No experience or equipment necessary! Intro to Web Development will take place in Josephinum Academy's second floor computer lab. Participants will have access to over thirty Apple iMac desktop computers in the lab to utilize.Space is limited! Register today at josephinum.org/webdev
