Josephinum Academy of the Sacred Heart Appoints Colleen Schrantz as New Principal
Josephinum Academy has appointed Colleen Schrantz to the position of principal for the 2019/2020 school year. Schrantz joined Josephinum as assistant principal last year. She will replace Mary Rose Guerin who has accepted the position of Head of School at Forest Ridge Academy of the Sacred Heart in Seattle, Washington.
"Colleen Schrantz is a faith filled leader who has developed strong and meaningful relationships with Josephinum's community of students, teachers, administrative staff and parents," said Patti Tuomey Ed.D., President of Josephinum. "She has done an exceptional job as assistant principal and is committed to the Jo's mission to empower young women to change the world."
"I am honored to serve as Josephinum's principal beginning next year," said Schrantz. " Since the first time I stepped into the school, I have been drawn to its magnetic atmosphere, from the innovative teachers to the rigorous curriculum to the supportive staff. I will use my faith-based education and collaborative leadership style to continue the important mission of the Jo."
Prior to joining Josephinum, Schrantz spent five years as principal of St. Bruno's Catholic Elementary School. There she built a long-term strategic plan which was comprised of forming partnerships in the community, increasing the enrollment, strengthening the school culture and improving test scores through instructional strategies. In her early career, Schrantz taught middle school math and computer applications at St. Eugene School.
This year, Schrantz will complete a two-year fellowship program at the Center for Transformational Educational Leadership at Notre Dame University. She received a certification in Inclusive Education within Catholic Schools from Loyola University Chicago in 2016. Schrantz has an M.A. in Educational Leadership from Concordia University and a B.A. in Secondary Mathematics Education from St. Ambrose University.
