Fun Facts About Me
Lori has participated in grant-writing for research, cultural programming, and education. Her personal passion is historic preservation for which she has authored two National Register of Historic Places nomination applications and co-authored two regional history books for Arcadia Publishing, Inc. She co-founded the nonprofit Maxwell Street Foundation in 1996 dedicated to the history of the Maxwell Street Market in Chicago, for which she currently serves as Sr. Vice President and Treasurer. After moving to Chicago from Detroit where she grew up in the Catholic faith, she taught as a substitute teacher in Chicago and Evanston Public Schools, followed by a long career as a scientific illustrator at The Field Museum. She is married and lives on Chicago’s Near West Side in the Tri-Taylor Historic District.
