131 Years of Girls Without Limits
School News & Events
The Josephinum Academy of the Sacred Heart community is reeling from the horrendous massacre of children and teachers in Uvalde, Texas. Our hearts break for every child, teacher, and family member who suffered in this brutal attack.
As we have done in the aftermath of previous school shootings, we join schools nationwide in weeping, praying, and comforting one another. Yet it is not enough to reassure the students that they are safe. We all have security, safety plans, and lockdown drills. Yet it is not enough to protect those that come into school buildings each day.
We must take back our schools. The seemingly unstoppable violence and loss of precious lives in our schools and communities must end and we need to work together urgently on solutions. Each one of us can be empowered, not helpless, by connecting with and supporting one another, participating in community events and meetings, demanding elected officials pass gun reform legislation, and speaking up immediately when something seems wrong. This is our shared responsibility. It begins with each one of us.
Due to unexpected illnesses, the remaining performances of The Revenger's Tragedy have been canceled. Please join us in the Fall for our next theater performance. Watch this space for further information.
Join us on December 8th from 4-7pm at Josephinum Academy in Room 315 for the Fall Art Show.
Join us on select dates November 18th through December 4th for our upcoming Senior/Junior Acting Studios production of The House of Bernarda Alba by the Spanish dramatist Federico García Lorca (and translated by James Graham-Lujan and Richard O'Connell).
Josephinum Academy of the Sacred Heart celebrated students and the Jo community at the Annual Fall Gala held virtually on October 22nd where generous supporters contributed over $493,000 for student scholarships. During a year that showed many challenges due to the pandemic, the Gala brought light to the perseverance shown by exceptional young women who attended their classes remotely.
